More Podiums Snetterton - Adam Smalley Racing
In Adams words:
"I had a great weekend at Snetterton for the penultimate round of the Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship. In the mixed conditions on Friday our pace was strong. The track conditions were constantly changing but I felt confident going into the weekend.
Qualifying on Saturday was dry, a small error on my behalf meant that my fastest lap time got deleted because of track limits. This meant that I Qualified 4th.
I lined up on the grid 4th for race one and made a great start, getting up to third position. I set fastest lap of the race and crossed the line in 3rd to get another podium finish.
Race two of the weekend which was on Sunday morning wet. I got a good start from third on the grid and got into second before the first corner. I hunted down the leader within a couple of laps and made a brave move going into the bomb hole to take the lead of the race. I got my head down and focussed on creating a gap. I got a lead of over 4 seconds before my tyres started to overheat. In the end I won the race by just under a second, going on to take my third win of the season.
For the final race of the weekend, the reverse grid race I unfortunately pulled number 6 out of the hat after winning, meaning the top 6 finishers from race two were reversed to decide the grid for race three. I made good progress and went on to finish 4th. I got close to a podium but narrowly missed out.
Overall it was another great weekend at Snetterton, a great haul of points putting me closer in the championship fight going into the final round at Brands Hatch in three weeks time."
Special Ops Brand Ambassador Adam Smalley in His Words P2, P2, P1 & Lap Record at Croft.
Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship - Round 5 - Croft. What a weekend of incredible racing, Adam gets on the podium again, again & again!!!
In Adams Words:
“Friday practice started off great, setting the quickest lap time in FP1 was a good start to the weekend. FP2 was another good session, we were really strong ending the session P3. In qualifying we equalled our best of the season, ending the session P2. Although 2nd was great, on my best lap it started raining which cost us a little bit of time which would have put us pole.
Minutes before the start of race one on Saturday, there was a heavy rain shower. I managed to get a good start and was challenging for the lead from the start, I pushed a little to hard on the opening laps and overheated the tyres, making it difficult to get past the leader. I crossed the line P2 to get another podium!
For race two on Sunday, I was again lining up on second place. I was under pressure at the start from the person behind, allowing the leader to get away. Once I got a little gap from the car behind, I could focus on catching the leader, I managed to get fastest lap and close up onto the bumper of the lead car but unfortunately didn’t have enough laps to make the overtake. Again we finished P2 which is another brilliant result.
For the third and final race of the weekend, it was the reverse grid race. The top 4 from race two are reversed meaning I started third on the grid. I got a great start and was immediately challenging for P2. I managed to get a good run out of tower on lap one and got into second with a difficult move around the outside as the esses. The leader at this point had built up a bit of a lead. I had clean air behind me and set my full focus trying to catch. In doing so, I broke the lap record twice and now have the new lap record around Croft in a Ginetta G55 GT4 car. I caught the leader within a few laps. I was a few calf lengths behind going into tower but managed to make a lunge for the lead. As soon as I got in to the lead I got my head down and didn’t look back. I pulled out a two second lead and went on to take my second win of the season!
A massive thank you to everyone who was involved in this. So far my best weekend this year, let’s carry this momentum into Snetterton in two weeks time!
Special Ops Brand Ambassador Adam Smalley in His Words P2 at Thruxton.
Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship - Round 4 - Thruxton. Exhilarating and close racing, with the top 4 or 5. Adam Smalley is usually in this mix, Special Ops are super proud of his achievements so far this season.
In Adams Words:
"It was a great weekend overall. From the off on Friday our pace was very strong finishing P2 in both free practice sessions. Qualifying on Saturday morning was great, I qualified 2nd, only 0.08 off of pole, our strongest qualifying of the season so far.
Race one didn’t go as planned. Contact on the opening lap caused myself to retire which was very frustrating considering how well the weekend was going. Unfortunately that’s racing so I just had to put that behind me and put my focus onto Sunday.
The first race on Sunday I started 6th. I had a great opening lap and managed to get up to 3rd. From there I got my head down and caught the man in second place and got passed him with a few laps to go. I managed to pull a gap behind me but unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to catch the leader. It was amazing to bring the car home in 2nd place especially after starting 6th on the grid.
For the final race of the weekend, the reverse grid, I started 4th. I made a good start but dropped down to 5th before the second corner. I made a good move around the outside to take 4th place back. From there on I tried everything I could to get past but when sitting behind another car, due to the aero wash you loose all your front end grip. I set the fastest lap of the race and brought it home in 4th place.
Overall it was our best weekend to date. Having some solid results and being very quick all weekend puts us in a great position for the rest of the season."
Special Ops Brand Ambassador Adam Smalley in His Words P3 at Oulton Park.
“Another great weekend at Oulton Park for round 3 of the Ginetta G55 Supercup Championship! We started the weekend well and was second fastest in the first practice session of the weekend.
Qualifying was tricky as we were in the assembly area when we suddenly had a very hard period of rain seconds before we were about to go out. We were all changing setup as quickly as possible to get out on track. I qualified 4th in tricky conditions which put us in a good place to start race one.
The first race of the weekend we had strong pace and finished just off the podium in 4th position. In race two I was starting 4th again but as the track was drying there was only one dry line, unfortunately my side of the starting grid was wet meaning I struggled to get a good start, dropping to 5th. Heading into turn one there was a lot going on ahead and
I managed to put myself on the right part of the track and come out in 3rd. From then on we had the pace to put 2nd position under pressure the whole race but couldn’t quite get close enough to make a move.
I finished 3rd which is another brilliant result in only my third weekend in the championship”.
Special Ops Brand Ambassador Adam Smalley in His Words P1 at Brands Hatch.
In Adams words:
"The weekend was great. We were a little on the back foot at Donington but the team turned it round in a short space of time to make sure we were competing right at the sharp end. I had a great qualifying and ended up P4. In the races some different tyre strategies came into play. I finished both 4th in race on and race two which bagged me a handful of points.
I knew what I needed to work on for the final race of the weekend and what setup changes we needed to make. I got a good start from the front and created a bit of gap at the front. When the safety car came out I just needed to keep my cool and focus on the restart. I got a brilliant restart and opened up a gap again. The second place man started to catch but I managed to defend him off and controlled the race, going on to take my maiden win in the Ginetta G55 Supercup Championship. It was a fantastic race especially winning the live ITV4 televised race.
This now puts us in a good position going into Oulton Park in just under two weeks time.
I would like to say a massive thank you to Elite Motorsport as well as all of my sponsors."

Special Ops Ltd - Case Studies & Collaborations
VUHL, the road-legal lightweight supercar manufacturer, unveiled its groundbreaking new car - the 05RR - to an exclusive audience in Mexico City. With the performance credentials to rivals its competitors, VUHL's heavily-uprated 05RR is a masterclass in power, finesse and grip. The objective of the project with VUHL and the Bias Brake System Pedal Box Assembly was to design a light weight, ergonomically precise, low maintenance, rotary potentiometer DBW pedal assembly. Utilising a fast and simple production line installation design, Special Ops Ltd worked in collaboration with VUHL to produce a solution that is installed in all the OEM factory built 05RR models.
The 488 Challenge is a race-ready special model derived from the 488 GTB, a more extreme version of an already formable machine and capable of zero to 60mph sprint in about 2.9 seconds, and on to over 200mph. It has some extra aerodynamic aids, still more weight taken out of the body and software to make the most of its awesome power. The project brief for Special Ops Ltd was to design a protective, durable and light weight battery case, with a built in ventilation system to eliminate explosive gas build up for the One-make racing series by Ferrari. We worked in collaboration with Ferrari & Super B to achieve a commercial solution that is now in all the new Ferrari 488 Challenge Race Cars sold all over the world.
